Who's smarter? Men or Women?

This was a question I saw on a message board.

The first female response: "Women. They're more conscious of their surrondings."

By the way, she spelled surroundings wrong.

The first male response: "Men are. I try talkin to girlz all the time and u cant get a good conversation goin."

Gee, you have to wonder why?!

Neither of these answers, provided any evidence.

There have been IQ test that indicate males have more intelligence, however, who wrote these test? Define intelligence.

Let's say Harry is a high school drop out, who became a plumber. Harry has his own business, making $150,000.00 a year. Tom is a science professor making $70,000.00. If you asked a financial planner, he might be inclined to think Harry is the wiser. If you asked a chemical engineer, he might lean towards Tom.

My point; intelligence is very multi-dimensional and can have many definitions, depending on one's views.

Not just another day.

As I was scrolling through the radio stations, I was surprised not to hear one mention of D-Day. How could the allied invasion of Normandy be forgotten? Any reference of today's date was towards the remake of "The Omen".

My mind started to wander (yet again), and I realized that the war on Iraq will have a huge impact on the future of my daughter's generation. They have relatives fighting in Iraq, not just ancestors. I remember having to explain to my daughters what "shock and awe" was about.

Shortly after the 9/11 attacks, my family went to spend the day in Chicago. We made a trip to the top of the John Hancock building. In order to do this, we had to pursue our daughter that a plane will not crash into it (building). Despite my convincing speech, I too, was nervous. The discomfort about viewing a beautiful city from 1,000 feet up can't compare to the anguish of soldiers and their families.

Today though, I'm feeling very solemn thinking about D-Day. It's very momentous having all those countries engaged in a historic event. To this day, the number of deaths that occurred may never be known.

Getting Married

A person asked--"How much time does a person need before getting married?"

There is no answer. I've been married for almost twenty years and I couldn't tell you the answers.

A couple of weeks ago, I attended a friend's wedding. In July, another friend is getting married. In August, my niece is getting married. Everyone's getting married. Statistics would say, there's a good chance that one of the three marriages wont last. I hope not.

The only advice I was able to offer: Having the same goals, short and long term.
